Specific methods for wear-resistant maintenance of wire drawing dies

Operator's carelessness and improper maintenance and use will also cause damage to the tungsten steel. The drawing die is damaged or the quality of the product is reduced, or even the production is stopped. How to eliminate and avoid these failures, this requires a certain number of cemented carbide mold assemblers to master the relevant mold repair technology, so that failures can occur at any time, and can be processed and repaired at any time, which is helpful to restore normal use , And has given full play to the maximum potential of the mold.

The following introduces the influence of different material cores on the life of the wire drawing die

   1. Cemented carbide

The cemented carbide used in the wire drawing die is a tungsten-tungsten-cobalt alloy with a higher cobalt content. It has better abrasion resistance, impact resistance, polishing and corrosion resistance, easy maintenance and low price. Studies have shown that by improving the composition and structure of cemented carbide, controlling the displacement value of carbon content, and refining carbide particles, the performance of the material can be improved and its own accuracy can be prolonged. Usually, the interior adopts hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment, ultra-fine grain technology and the addition of rare earth elements to reduce the gradient, refine the grain size, improve the alloy hardness and deformation friction coefficient; use chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and The physical vapor deposition (PVD) method forms a diamond film or a titanium nitride coating on the surface of the cemented carbide to improve the surface strength of the alloy.

   2. Natural diamond

Natural diamond, usually called diamond, is the hardest substance in nature. It has high wear resistance and heat exchange rate. When used for wire drawing of tungsten and molybdenum, it can improve the surface quality of the wire and improve the performance and dimensional accuracy of the wire. However, it is inherently very brittle, has poor impact resistance, and has anisotropic hardness, which makes it prone to uneven wear when manufacturing drawing dies. In addition, diamonds are scarce, expensive and difficult to process, so thick filaments are restricted in drawing.

   3. Synthetic diamonds

Synthetic diamonds are also called polycrystalline diamonds. It is a polycrystal made by the non-directional polymerization of many single crystal particles. It has high strength and hardness, resistance to impact displacement, uniform alternating changes and good overall performance. In stretching, the particle size of artificial polycrystalline diamond is large, and polishing is difficult. When the surface smoothness of the drawn wire is not as smooth as that of the natural diamond wire, the hole diameter is larger than the hole diameter of the diamond die and the cemented carbide die, and the wire diameter is stable. The surface quality is good. By refining the crystal grains, the polishing performance can be improved, and the natural diamond can be replaced on the wire drawing die of the medium and thin wires, which greatly reduces the cost and improves the product quality.
